ELEVEN presents the ICIC portal
The International Cases in Context (ICIC) project classifies and structures
all important international cases, thus making the body of international case law
more accessible. Starting with the ICJ cases, ICIC gives an analysis of each case
and sets out its relevance for the development of international law. In future,
other international tribunals will be added.
The ICIC Portal is the web version of this project which gives
the full text of each case, including various search possibilities (e.g. date, parties,
keywords, subject area) and hyperlinks to relevant primary source documents (e.g.
treaties, UN Resolutions, ICJ cases). All essential facts such as opinions, case
name, date, source, are incorporated as well. The Portal also lists a table of treaties
and a bibliography for each case. The Peace Palace Library is kindly assisting in
compiling the latter.
The ICIC Project will also be available in two print formats:
-- Leading cases of international law, scheduled to appear in the fourth quarter
of 2007, is a softcover book aimed primarily at students, covering 30 cases which
have been vital for the development of international law. Using a standard structure,
the following information will be given for each case:
Keywords
Highlights
Case History
Legal Reasoning
Findings
Aftermath
Bibliography
Table of Treaties
Table of Cases
The aim of this publication is to provide students with the context of ICJ cases,
as this will enable them to study international law in a more structured way and
quickly come to grips with the main issues in international law.
-- ICIC Library is primarily aimed at institutional libraries and at academics.
Each volume in the ICIC Library will cover a particular subject of international
law (e.g. environmental law, peaceful settlement of disputes). In each volume the
cases relevant for the topic covered are addressed.
Introducing the ELEVEN Agenda
ELEVEN's online agenda offers an overview of all major events in the field of international
law. A quick search button helps you to find events (conferences, courses) of your
choice. You can also add a new event yourself.
New Yearbook: MEA Developments 2007

topics of each MEA in the past year and the coming year will be given.
The editor, Philip Drost, is legal counsel at the Netherlands Ministry of Housing,
